You have found the right place for your child, teenager, young adult and even you to learn. All it takes are consistency, commitment and a growth mindset.
It was just about two months after I had my second baby, that I had a strong passion to learn the skill of sewing. I had never sown all my life, let alone having a sewing machine. As much as I pushed it aside, it kept coming.
First thing first, I contacted some people that were into it already, to make inquiries about the training process. Some of them did not respond while some couldn’t take me in because of their busy schedule. I felt discouraged at first but I did not allow that to stop me from moving on. I went online and started searching for a sewing machine to buy. The only knowledge I had about the choice of a brand was that my mum was a seamstress and she used singer sewing machine.
I started the search, read reviews for days and at some point, I saw one with lots of positive reviews. I went to the shop, thinking I would get it, as I wanted it immediately. I checked different shops but couldn’t find that particular one. On getting back home, I placed an order online and I couldn’t wait for it to be delivered.
Alas! My sewing machine arrived, and I was the happiest person on earth. Due to lots of care and attention for my two months old baby and my growing family, I couldn’t start learning immediately.
After two weeks of the machine’s arrival, I brought it out of the package for the first time, I set it up with little effort. I ran some stitches and I was so happy with the result. That was the beginning of my Sewing Journey. I started learning on my own, with resources I got online.
I remembered I bought a set of window blinds from the charity shop some years back. Pulled them out where they were and with it I started practicing. Oh! I was so excited.
